We're Hiring!


The Trent Queer Collective is hiring two coordinator positions for the coming academic year (September 2019-April 2020). In conjunction with our current coordinator, co-coordinators are responsible for the upkeep of the Trent Queer Collective, including organizing events, running social media, managing finances, and reaching out to partner organizations and the community.

An ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills and be able to complete self-directed goals. TQC coordinators must be knowledgeable of (or willing to research) general LGBTQ+ history and issues currently faced by members of the community. Knowledge and understanding of intersectional oppression is strongly recommended.

Applicants must be current undergraduate/graduate Trent University students. This position is non-TWSP and open to both domestic and international students. The coordinator position is maximum 10 hrs/week and pays $15/hr.

Duties include:
- events organization
- social media and publicity (including making posters)
- finances
- a minimum of 2 regular office hours per week
- a weekly 1 hr open meeting

- strong communication skills
- understanding of intersectional framework
- experience with Microsoft Suite (Office, Excel)
- graphic design experience

Previous anti-oppression training is encouraged, however all coordinators will be required to renew their training in the fall.

Performer Call Out: Drag Show 2018

The annual TQC Drag Show and Cabaret is coming up on Friday, March 30th this year! As usual, we are looking for performers to wow us with their awesome talent and stage presence!

If you perform drag routines, burlesque, acrobatics, or any other performance art such as singing, dancing, acting, or juggling, please get in touch with us! We are always open to having a wide range of performances, and we feel that variety only makes our show even better.

If you are interested in performing, please get in touch with us by March 9th and send us a brief description of your act, any tech requirements, and MP3 files of any music used in your act. Please also include a short biography for our MC to read on stage before your act. (please email

This year we invite you all to the one and only "Cirque du So-Gay"! This fantastic circus-themed show is sure to be a wild and fun night you won't want to miss.

New Winter Office Hours, and Volunteer Opportunities

To start things off, as posted on our home page, our winter office hours are now in effect. Any changes to this schedule will be posted on our Facebook page.

We also have many exciting events coming up this semester... As always there's our Beers 4 Queers! The location for this may be subject to changing until we find a good venue to contain all of us party animals ;) We also have Self Love Week, TQC will be doing 2 workshops in this week (Feb 12 - 16). One workshop is a throwback to last year - fighting your internalized transphobia/homophobia, the other will be a queer specific sexual health workshop.

Our BIG event is also coming up on March 30th. TQC presents: Cirque du So-Gay!! Our circus themed drag show will wow and amaze you. Don't let that stop you from volunteering though, as every year we cannot make it happen without amazing volunteers!

Time to Get Spooky

This year the TQC is going to be hosting, for the first time ever.... A HAUNTED HOUSE!!

This will be a fundraiser event and we are looking for volunteers!

If you want a taste of what being a ghost is like, send us an email and you can volunteer to be a part of our spooky team that night!!

The event will run 7-11pm, and we are hoping our spook-tastic team will be there 6:30-11:30pm!

Ptbo Pride Parade & Fall Office Hours

Do you want to march with the TQC in the Peterborough Pride Parade?

Come out and march with us during the PTBO Pride Parade this Saturday (Sept 23rd)! The parade starts at 2 pm and runs down George St and ends at Millennium Park, for the Pride in the Park festivities.

If you wish to march with us, we will be meeting in Confederation Square (right across from City Hall) starting at 1:00 pm. Pre-parade activities start at 1:30, so feel free to show up any time in between then. Look for one of us that you know, or look for the TQC sign!

All students (or graduates!) are welcome to march with us.

In other news, we have finalized our Fall 2017 Office Hours! Since we currently have more staff than usual, this also means we have more office hours. That's great news for you folks! Please remember that you are always welcome to stop in during our office hours to hang out and chat, or to bring up any concerns you may have.

  • Monday: 12:30-2:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 12:00-1:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 12:00-1:30 pm
  • Thursday: 2:30-4:30 pm
  • Friday: 3:00-6:00 pm

As well as office hours, we have also set the day and time for our weekly open meetings. From now on, open meetings will be held every Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 pm in the LEC Pit!
